About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Write, maintain, and extend automated test suites across System, Integration, and Regression levels
- Apply manual testing where automation is not yet available or appropriate
- Analyse user stories and use cases for validity and feasibility
- Detect, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies
- Define and maintain quality procedures, standards, and specifications
- Estimate testing effort and ensure schedules are met
- Ensure technical products are tested accurately, on time, and according to best practices
- Ensure code is reviewed before changes are checked into the main branch
- Contribute to the design and development of automated test frameworks integrated into the CI/CD pipeline
- Champion automated testing, shift-left practices, and quality engineering throughout the Agile lifecycle
- Collaborate with Software Engineers, Delivery Leads, and Product Owners
- Maintain clear testing documentation, artefacts, coverage, and results
- Communicate with the QA community, Software Engineers, and Engineering Leads
- Pursue personal development and continuously suggest efficiency and productivity improvements
- Share knowledge and support colleagues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong team player with ability to work within an Agile / Scrum framework
- Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience writing and maintaining automated test scripts using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, TestComplete, or equivalent
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or coding language, such as Python, C#, or JavaScript
- Experience integrating automated testing frameworks into a CI/CD pipeline
- Ability to debug and refactor code within an automated test framework
- 3 years of experience as a QA Engineer or similar role, with demonstrable automation output
- Experience with Agile (Scrum) methodologies
- Ability to produce high-quality test plans, documentation, and reports
- Experience identifying and communicating bugs and documenting replication steps
- Experience executing RESTful API testing using Postman or SoapUI
- Understanding of load, soak, stress, and system testing concepts
- Ability to use Git or equivalent for source code management
- Understanding of OWASP Top 10 software vulnerabilities
- Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation, and best practice
- Awareness of TDD and BDD
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent is desirable
- Experience with Azure Test Plans or SonarCloud is desirable
- Experience with performance or security testing tooling is desirable
- Knowledge of the construction, engineering, or field service management industry is desirable
