About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer all US employee benefits programs
  • Manage the annual open enrollment process, including system setup, employee communications, and vendor coordination
  • Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, and benefits terminations accurately and within required timelines
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries and resolve eligibility, claims, and enrollment issues
  • Reconcile monthly benefits invoices and ensure accurate billing from carriers and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable federal/state regulations
  • Prepare and file required compliance documents, including 5500s, ACA reporting, and Summary Plan Descriptions
  • Partner with brokers and carriers during annual renewal to evaluate plan performance and negotiate rates
  • Maintain benefits data integrity within the HRIS and ensure accurate data feeds to carriers
  • Support leave of absence administration, including FMLA, STD/LTD, and state-specific leave laws
  • Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new hires
  • Analyze benefits utilization and costs and provide recommendations for plan design improvements
  • Stay current on benefits trends, legislative changes, and industry best practices
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions and partner with vendors, brokers, and internal HR teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience administering US employee benefits programs
  • Strong working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and FMLA regulations
  • Experience with HRIS/benefits administration platforms, such as Workday, ADP, UKG, or SAP SuccessFactors
  • Proficiency in Excel for benefits reconciliation, auditing, and reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive employee data confidentially
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • CEBS or PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Experience managing multi-state benefits programs preferred
  • Experience with benefits vendor/broker management and renewal negotiations preferred
