About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, support and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines and integrations across the organisation's data estate
- Develop and maintain data models, ETL/ELT pipelines and analytics solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Power BI and related tooling
- Own the quality, performance and ongoing support of delivered data solutions, including legacy data integrations
- Champion responsible use of AI-assisted tooling such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to improve delivery speed, quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with Development, Cloud and Security engineering teams to deliver secure and reliable data solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex data quality, performance and integration issues across modern and legacy platforms
- Maintain existing legacy integrations and plan their modernisation where appropriate
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and self-service analytics for business stakeholders
- Translate business data and reporting requirements into technical solutions
- Apply security, governance, privacy and compliance requirements to data solutions
- Contribute to data architecture, standards and best practices
- Estimate time and effort for data engineering tasks and projects
- Partner with Cloud and Development teams to scale data platforms within cloud infrastructure
- Take on additional reasonable tasks aligned with abilities when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing or business intelligence roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake or an equivalent cloud data warehouse platform
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX and report/dashboard development
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integrations, including legacy systems
- Practical experience using AI-assisted tooling such as GitHub Copilot and Claude
- Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling, dimensional modelling and star schemas
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP and cloud-native data services
- Understanding of data governance, data quality and data security principles
- Experience working closely with Development, Cloud and Security engineering teams in a cross-functional environment
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics is desirable
- GxP, GCP and/or TMF knowledge preferred but not mandatory
- Strong problem-solving and complex data issue diagnosis skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical data concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent oral and written communication
- Strong working knowledge of data tooling and platforms, including Snowflake and Power BI
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience required
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering involving ingestion, transformation, modeling and pipeline operations across multiple data sources or a related field
- Certifications in cloud fundamentals or data engineering preferred
