About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support families with children ages 0–5 through weekly home visits
  • Provide weekly 90-minute home visits to Head Start/Early Head Start families
  • Manage a caseload of 10–12 families and children
  • Accommodate working parents in the evenings as needed
  • Organize and maintain caseload files in accordance with state, federal, and local requirements
  • Enter data and documentation into assigned databases weekly
  • Apply Head Start Performance Standards and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Conduct observations, screenings, and assessments of parent-child interaction and child development
  • Strengthen parent-child relationships and help parents improve home environments
  • Assist families with goal setting, Individualized Family Partnership Agreements, and School Readiness Plans
  • Provide resources and referrals to low-income families
  • Facilitate monthly socialization activities and assist with monthly parent meetings
  • Collaborate with agencies including First Steps and CWS
  • Conduct family engagement services and home visits in the family’s preferred language for Spanish-speaking families
  • Provide translation services and support Spanish-language recruitment, intake, and enrollment
  • Participate in recruitment events and support bilingual-service mentorship
  • Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, safety practices, and ethical standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associates degree
  • Excellent Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must obtain Class E driver’s license within 30 days of starting
  • Must provide proof of personal valid vehicle insurance
  • TB Assessment and/or requirements
  • Background screening including fingerprinting is required
  • Ability to obtain required certifications: Infant Massage, Parents as Teachers, and Doula
  • Knowledge of child development for ages 0–5
  • Ability to collaborate with other home visitors
  • Ability to problem solve and think critically
  • Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and complete documentation on time
  • Spanish–English bilingual capacity is required for the Bilingual Home Visitor assignment
  • Must complete required program training and maintain educational requirements associated with each credential
