About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of patient health information within the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Identify, analyze, and resolve data discrepancies, including duplicate medical records, patient overlays, demographic inconsistencies, and erroneous documentation
- Resolve and merge duplicate medical records
- Verify and resolve patient overlays
- Maintain and manage Epic work queues related to data integrity issues
- Add appropriate chart flags or comments to maintain medical record integrity
- Collaborate with Patient Access, Registration, Clinical Staff, and other teams to correct errors and prevent future issues
- Meet productivity standards
- Ensure duties comply with HIPAA, The Joint Commission, CommUnityCare standards, and applicable policies and procedures
- Use Epic reporting tools and dashboards to monitor trends, identify root causes, and recommend process improvements
- Provide customer service and establish professional relationships throughout the organization
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and current knowledge of confidentiality and privacy laws
- Develop and maintain relationships with clinical managers, clinical support staff, providers, business office staff, and other partners
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent (higher degree accepted)
- 2 years experience in a healthcare setting
- High level of critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- High level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer service
- Knowledge of commonly used medical terminology
- Ability to utilize a computer for data entry and retrieval
- High level of organization and ability to multitask
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform operations in system EHRS
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to manage competing objectives in a fast-moving environment to achieve results
