About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear data and reporting requirements
- Design and deliver MI, reporting and BI solutions using Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
- Develop datasets, dashboards, KPIs and reusable data products that provide meaningful business insight
- Support migration and simplification of legacy reporting onto strategic data platforms
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reporting and remove unnecessary manual activity
- Manage delivery through development, testing, release and operational handover
- Ensure data quality, governance, security and control throughout the reporting lifecycle
- Use AI-enabled tools responsibly to support analysis, documentation, testing and more efficient ways of working
- Provide technical guidance and peer review to colleagues
- Contribute to improvements in BI, data engineering and reporting practices across the function
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience delivering BI, MI, analytics or data solutions within a data-focused environment
- Strong SQL skills and practical experience with data and reporting technologies
- Experience with Power BI and exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Python or PySpark
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into effective technical solutions
- Understanding of data modelling, quality, governance, security and controlled change
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Experience working across multiple projects and balancing different priorities and dependencies
- Proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous improvement and automation
- Interest in how AI and emerging technologies can improve analytics, reporting and ways of working
- Experience of legacy MI or data environments such as Hadoop or SQL Server would be beneficial, particularly where migration, simplification or decommissioning activity has been supported
