About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support production of accurate and timely financial reporting
Take ownership of key areas of the Group’s external reporting cycle
Prepare and review financial information
Support production of statutory accounts
Work with external auditors to deliver a smooth and well-controlled year-end process
Support preparation of Group and entity-level statutory financial statements
Produce accurate reporting and supporting schedules in line with agreed deadlines
Coordinate information and respond to external auditor queries
Ensure reporting complies with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Prepare technical accounting papers and contribute to resolving complex accounting matters
Maintain documentation, reconciliations and audit trails
Gather, review and challenge reporting information with Finance teams across the Group
Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls and efficiency
Support wider Finance projects and reporting requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Qualified accountant with strong technical accounting and external reporting experience, ideally gained within insurance, financial services or another complex, regulated environment
ACA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification
Experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements
Strong knowledge of relevant accounting standards and external reporting requirements
Experience working closely with external auditors
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
Strong communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across different teams
Proactive and collaborative approach, with confidence to challenge where needed
Interest in improving processes and strengthening financial controls
