About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform basic patient care functions under the direction of a physician or registered nurse
- Document patient care as required
- Prepare patients for physician examinations
- Share observations of patient progress toward established goals with the physician
- Instruct patients and families regarding medication and treatment directions
- Chart on behalf of the provider in the exam room when needed, including name, title, date, and time, with provider sign-off
- Schedule patient appointments and referrals as directed
- Perform receptionist duties as necessary
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current MA Certification from one of the following is required: CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) from AAMA, RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) from American Medical Technologists, or NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant) from NCCT
- BLS required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment at CGH
- Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- Prior experience in phlebotomy and placing EKG leads preferred
- Knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of patients served in the physician office
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served
- Ability to assess and interpret patient-status data to identify needs and provide appropriate pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric care
