About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide oversight of operational activities within the department at CGH Clinics in coordination with clinic staff
- Perform Clinic RN responsibilities in addition to supervisory duties
- Facilitate staffing issues and communicate needs to management
- Update missed punches, log travel sheets, and help monitor nursing staff overtime
- Coordinate rotating holidays, NC/Coverage, LC/Illness, and attendance
- Carry out level 1 disciplinary notices
- Oversee departmental operational activities, including PAR levels of medical and office supplies
- Aid candidate screening and identify the top two candidates for manager selection
- Act as a resource for staff regarding policies and procedures
- Recognize and respond to unusual occurrences and coordinate action under manager direction
- Lead department huddles
- Oversee and provide standardized education for department staff with the Clinical Educator
- Work closely with Clinic Administration, meet weekly with the manager, and attend monthly meetings
- Coordinate new employee orientation with the Clinical Educator
- Review and update departmental checklists
- Ensure completion of float department-specific checklists
- Provide meeting agendas, record minutes, and distribute minutes to office staff
- Assist with onboarding new providers, ordering supplies, and creating schedules and templates
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider out schedules
- Assist Clinic Administration with NRC feedback investigations and follow-up
- Pull phone, missing charges, and other reports supporting clinic administration operations
- Perform other duties assigned by the manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Illinois Registered Nurse Licensure required
- In-depth working knowledge of current concepts, principles and procedures used in patient care within clinic care setting
- Clear understanding and of use of PCIS and EMR, keeps UTD on changes and communicates them to staff
- Three years previous Medical Office experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments preferred
- Prior experience in drawing blood is preferred
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- BLS Required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS required for Oral Surgery
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding is preferred
- Demonstrates ability to document patient needs and assessments
- Demonstrates knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served in the physician office
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served
- Able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group
