About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide nursing interventions and teaching skills under RN supervision to maximize patient comfort and enhance quality of life
  • Provide nursing tasks to patients and families, including continuous care, dressing changes, and catheter changes according to the IDG-developed plan of care
  • Apply clinical skills including medication administration, symptom management, and patient/family relationships
  • Observe and monitor patients for alterations in body systems, pain, and symptoms; report findings to RN
  • Observe and report adverse reactions and responses to treatments
  • Report findings to physicians, APRNs, and physician assistants in collaboration with RN
  • Perform venipuncture for blood specimens
  • Inspect CVL sites; perform venous access device dressing and cap changes, flushing, IV medication and fluid administration, IV pushes per procedure, and venipuncture
  • Do not make changes to infusion pump settings, including rate or IV bag changes
  • Document according to policy and procedure in the medical record
  • Report to designated locations during emergencies to ensure continuity of services, potentially ahead of schedule and staying overnight
  • Cross-train to Hospice House positions of equal licensure/certification and scope when required by census
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Represent the Company professionally, comply with regulations and policies, maintain confidentiality, use resources responsibly, support research and education, share expertise, and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current LPN licensure in the state of employment
  • Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Employees working at PACE: certification of completion of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Training through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy
  • Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in English
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of patients
  • Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms
  • Ability to manage the emotional stress of working with and caring for terminally ill patients and their families
  • Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Can work within their scope of practice per state regulations
  • Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position
  • If working in an inpatient unit, certificate of completion of 30 hour Infusion Therapy Course and in-house 8-hour Infusion Class preferred
