About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and execute proactive loss prevention and asset recovery programs across the region
- Protect CHEP’s proprietary information and intellectual property assets
- Lead undercover investigations and complex surveillance operations
- Coordinate follow-up actions for identified security risks and asset loss
- Monitor and implement fraud prevention measures
- Lead internal and external fraud investigations and prosecutions
- Gather, analyze, and categorize criminal-activity data
- Build a comprehensive database supporting current and future investigations
- Conduct internet security and social media investigations
- Manage post-incident follow-up and property recovery efforts
- Ensure timely resolution of asset loss cases
- Serve as a subject matter expert on security standards and disciplines
- Drive asset protection, loss control, and audit initiatives
- Deploy electronic tracking equipment where authorized, following legal guidelines
- Travel in the field 4–5 days per week, typically with one at-home administrative day
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates need to be based in Ohio and will cover OH & MI
- Minimum of 5–10 years of law enforcement experience preferred
- Investigator or detective background especially valued
- Strong report writing and investigation skills, including theft and illegal activity cases
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex cases
- Ability to use tracking devices (e.g., BRICS/BXB devices)
- Ability to monitor social media for illegal activity and leverage digital data in investigations
- Comfortable with extensive travel and working in the field
- Ability to handle sensitive information
- Ability to conduct background checks and assess candidate suitability
- Heavy weekly travel by driving within the territory required
- Flexibility to cover other territories as needed
- Occasional overnight stays (1–2 nights every other week) may be necessary
