About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Care for children while their parents are in trainings or meetings in the same building
  • Be available Monday nights from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Occasionally work other nights as needed
  • Work some Monday mornings from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rotating Monday mornings and nights

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience with childcare and general knowledge of child development and age-appropriate expectations
  • Experience working with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds strongly preferred
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills usually acquired in high school or equivalent
  • Creativity and patience
  • Ability to work with children and youth who may have special needs, including emotional, behavioral, and possibly physical needs
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate situations where a child may become upset
  • Ability to manage emotions under stressful childcare situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively and problem-solve child behavioral situations
