About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide remote video supervision from Children’s Corporate Center to assigned hospital patients
- Ensure patient safety through continual virtual surveillance and verbal redirection
- Perform basic activities demonstrated through the Virtual Sitter checklist
- Use telesitter software
- Monitor up to 6 patients continuously on one screen while remaining alert
- Document observations on paper logs and in the electronic health record
- Communicate with patients using a microphone and headset when verbal redirection is needed
- Prioritize and respond to simultaneous situations
- Promptly communicate patient observations, concerns, and needs to hospital staff
- Provide care appropriate to the patient population and applicable policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required or relevant experience
- Must be comfortable committing long term to working night shifts
- Must be available for an assigned 6-week schedule
- Must work 8-hour night shifts from 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Every 3rd weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Holiday rotation
- Must be available all day on the start date for New Team Member Welcome session from 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
- 1+ years previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred
- 1+ years previous experience working as a telesitter preferred
- Familiarity with computer/keyboard
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Rudimentary assessment and analytical skills for basic patient observations
- Functional sight, hearing, and speech
- Ability to sit and remain alert for prolonged periods
- Ability to monitor up to 6 patients continuously on one screen
- Ability to document on paper logs and in the electronic health record
- Ability to use a microphone and headset for verbal redirection
- Ability to multitask and prioritize simultaneous situations
- Ability to communicate observations, concerns, and patient needs to hospital staff
- Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care and understand growth and development across the lifespan
- This is not a position for students and cannot be worked around a school schedule
