About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide specific patient care and environment-of-care duties on the Postpartum unit before and after procedures under the direction of the registered nurse
- Assist the patient care team with patient transfers and positioning for procedures
- Transport patients to and from the Procedure Area
- Set up necessary procedure equipment and supplies
- Restock procedure room supplies and equipment and review inventory par levels
- Obtain trays, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures
- Clean the Procedure Area and specialty equipment/instrumentation
- Handle contaminated instrument trays, supplies, equipment, linens, specimens, and body fluids appropriately
- Complete equipment quality controls
- Troubleshoot minor equipment problems and initiate service calls
- Provide age-appropriate patient care under RN direction
- Respond to patient crisis situations and notify the registered nurse
- Follow safety rules and report hazards or violations
- Complete mandatory in-service education
- Work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager, receiving direction from RN staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Computer skills
- BLS required
- Sterile Processing Experience is a plus but not required
- Able to work flexible hours for training and support of the needs of the unit
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of software programs and Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of CCHS computer systems, electronic medical health record, and programs used in department
- Ability to operate a hospital computer system and other equipment in an accurate and safe manner
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, and climb
- Frequent transport of stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs
