About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, test, and manage simple to moderately complex data pipelines from acquisition through integration to production consumption
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and data security requirements
  • Partner with platform engineers and database administrators
  • Develop and manage ETL processes and support upgrade and testing initiatives
  • Pursue data extraction and analysis options from the Epic source system for research, regulatory, and collaborative initiatives
  • Develop solutions for benchmarking, process improvement, and analytics requirements
  • Develop data models supporting CCHMC strategies
  • Collaborate with customers and report/analytics development groups to ensure scalable and efficient solutions
  • Document data models and extraction processes
  • Automate repeatable data preparation and integration tasks
  • Refine reports, database structures, and extraction techniques using best practices
  • Work with vendors to support and enhance CCHMC investments and requests
  • Provide end-user support and monitor Service Level Agreements for incident management
  • Promote change management policies and procedures
  • Provide timely customer follow-up and escalate support issues
  • Collaborate with data science teams, business analysts, and organizational stakeholders
  • Provide second-level incident and problem resolution
  • Maintain and refine support documentation
  • Take 24-hour call on a staff rotation
  • Execute project tasks with urgency and quality
  • Communicate project status using departmental project management tools
  • Participate in project meetings and stand-ups
  • Serve as technical lead for moderately complex projects
  • Lead project meetings and workgroups

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, data management, information systems, information science, or a related quantitative field
  • 2+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Proficiency in one or more data management practices and architectures, such as data modelling, data warehousing, data lake, or data hub
  • Foundational understanding of other data management practices and architectures
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Proficiency with object-oriented/object function scripting
  • Proficiency with DevOps principles
  • Understanding of CCHMC clinical, business, and research processes
  • Obtain Epic certifications as appropriate/needed
  • Ability to take 24-hour call on a staff rotation
  • Preferred: experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiatives
