About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide store management with promotional recaps, business opportunities, results, trends and competitive information
  • Manage controllable costs, including merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, repair and maintenance costs
  • Collaborate with Marketing to implement promotions and new product introductions
  • Provide category managers with feedback regarding stock issues
  • Partner with vendors to ensure product availability and professional performance
  • Execute monthly promotions in a timely manner
  • Ensure profitable store operations by managing cash, merchandise variation, salaries and controllable P&L expenses
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, government regulations and restricted-sales policies
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment through safety practices, communication and training
  • Forecast requirements, prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions
  • Lead and direct Store Managers, including recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development and training
  • Establish job expectations and coach managers on action plans for issue resolution
  • Administer counseling notices and initiate corrective actions
  • Apply non-discriminatory management practices in hiring, training, counseling, motivating and separating employees
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks and professional societies
  • Accomplish Financial and Key Result Area targets according to company plan guidelines
  • Prepare operational and risk reports for analysis
  • Recruit, select and orient employees; train, coach, counsel, discipline, plan, monitor and appraise staff results

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted
  • 3–5 years of retail business experience or more preferred, including a minimum of 2 years of management responsibility
  • Experience with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, self-directed, self-motivated and customer service oriented
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to supervise and train Store Managers in the use of store equipment, tools and materials
  • Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the Store Manager job description
  • Current valid driver's license required to operate a company vehicle
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and mouse for data entry
  • Ability to view a computer monitor
  • Ability to hear and speak via telephone
  • Ability to reach forward and/or overhead
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work with minimum direction and periodic supervision
