About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maximize store sales through excellent customer service, product availability, merchandising, and exceptional store image
- Provide store management with promotional recaps, business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information
- Manage controllable costs including merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, and repair and maintenance costs
- Collaborate with marketing on promotions and new product introductions; provide feedback on stock issues
- Partner with vendors to ensure product availability, timely monthly promotions, and professional vendor performance
- Manage cash, merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expenses to ensure profitable store operations
- Enforce company policies, procedures, government regulations, and restricted sales policies
- Maintain a safe and secure working environment; enforce safety practices and provide safety communication and training
- Forecast financial requirements, prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions
- Lead and direct Store Managers, including recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development, training, coaching, counseling, motivation, and separation processes
- Establish job expectations and coach Store Managers on action plans for issue resolution
- Adhere to the Company's legal, ethical, and moral operating practices
- Enhance professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies
- Contribute to team efforts by achieving financial and key result area targets
- Supervise store managers across assigned locations, including occasional work involving walk-in coolers and freezers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted
- Three to five years of retail business experience or more preferred, including a minimum of two years of management responsibility
- Demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, self-directed, self-motivated, and customer service oriented
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English
- Ability to supervise and train Store Managers in use of store equipment, tools, and materials
- Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the Store Manager job description
- Expertise with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred
- Current valid driver's license required to operate a company vehicle
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to sit, talk, and/or hear; use hands to handle or grasp items; stand, walk, and reach with both hands and arms
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes of a workday
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from the ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes a workday
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds from the ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes a workday
- Ability to push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds
- Ability to climb a ladder to store or retrieve materials and place or replace signage
- Ability to travel by car 50% of the time
