About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maximize store sales through excellent customer service, product availability, merchandising, and exceptional store image
  • Provide store management with promotional recaps, business opportunities, results, trends, and competitive information
  • Manage controllable costs, including merchandise variation, salaries, overtime, cash, repair, and maintenance costs
  • Collaborate with marketing to implement promotions and new product introductions; provide feedback on stock issues
  • Partner with vendors to ensure product availability, timely monthly promotions, and professional vendor performance
  • Manage store cash, merchandise variation, salaries, and other controllable expenses to ensure profitable operations
  • Enforce compliance with company policies, procedures, government regulations, and restricted sales policies
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment and provide safety communication and training
  • Forecast financial requirements, prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions
  • Lead and direct Store Managers, including recruiting, selection, orientation, employee development, training, coaching, counseling, performance appraisal, and corrective actions
  • Apply non-discriminatory management practices when hiring, training, counseling, motivating, and separating employees
  • Adhere to the Company Operating Policy of legal, ethical, and moral practices
  • Enhance professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies
  • Contribute to team targets, including Financial and Key Result Area targets, under company plan guidelines
  • Supervise store managers across assigned operations, including occasional work in walk-in coolers and freezers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred; other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the requirements may be substituted
  • Three to five years of retail business experience or more preferred, including a minimum of two years of management responsibility
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, self-directed, self-motivated, and customer-service oriented
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to supervise and train Store Managers in use of store equipment, tools, and materials
  • Ability to supervise and manage the functions listed in the Store Manager job description
  • Expertise with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word preferred
  • Current valid driver's license required to operate a company vehicle
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to sit, talk, hear, handle or grasp items of varying weight, stand, walk, and reach with both hands and arms
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes of a workday
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from the ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes a workday
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds from the ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes a workday
  • Ability to push and pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds
  • Ability to climb a ladder to store or retrieve materials and place or replace signage
  • May require 50% travel by car
