Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute a go-to-market strategy and activate an existing network to build shipper and carrier partnership pipelines
  • Secure 2 to 6 new shipper accounts in the first month
  • Expand existing relationships through strategic account management, new freight lanes, and cross-sell opportunities
  • Scale accounts to 100 to 150 monthly loads within the first 60 days
  • Optimize carrier capacity utilization and determine load volume targets
  • Develop and execute freight brokerage strategies using market insights, carrier capacity trends, and shipper demand patterns
  • Create rate proposals and freight solutions
  • Negotiate terms while protecting margins and building long-term partnerships
  • Collaborate with operations, dispatch, and compliance teams to ensure load execution, on-time delivery, and service quality
  • Lead freight rate negotiations, service level agreements, and carrier contract development
  • Analyze KPIs including load volume, freight margins, customer acquisition costs, and revenue outcomes
  • Use data to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate measurable impact within the first 90 days

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of direct freight brokerage experience
  • Proven success sourcing, qualifying, and closing new shipper and carrier partnerships
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
  • Established, active professional network of shippers and carriers
  • Documented track record of acquiring 2–6 new shipper accounts monthly
  • Demonstrated expertise in freight rate negotiation, load pricing, and carrier contract development
  • Deep knowledge of freight market dynamics, carrier capacity trends, lane economics, and regional shipper demand patterns
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), load boards, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical capabilities and experience interpreting freight metrics and customer acquisition costs
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Aggressive, entrepreneurial mindset with proven measurable new revenue results
  • Preferred: Extensive personal network within freight brokerage industry
  • Preferred: Track record of exceeding new account acquisition quotas or revenue targets
  • Preferred: Familiarity with freight compliance requirements, DOT regulations, and industry best practices
