About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Decide what to build next, in what order, and what to decline
- Balance vertically sold, customer-specific use cases with a reusable general product
- Convert project work into standard product capabilities
- Turn recognised customer problems into usable capabilities quickly
- Define requirements that are complete, clear, and ready to build
- Identify what use cases can be sold and what demos may claim
- Make product scope and trade-offs explicit with the team
- Work directly with plant managers and controllers
- Present the roadmap and its rationale to the board
- Participate in core strategy conversations
- Define discovery, prioritisation, and product-engineering standards as the founding product leader
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years in product management, or consulting with genuine product proximity
- End-to-end ownership of a product area, not only a backlog
- Technical and analytical foundation in engineering, data, operations research, quantitative controlling, or finance with real modelling
- Ability to recognise technical debt and lack of reusability for future customers
- Experience making decisions under incomplete information and explaining trade-offs
- Comfortable working directly with plant managers and controllers
- German at C1 level or above
- Fluent English
- Existing work visa for Germany
- Willingness to work directly with customers from the first week
- Ability to decide without a dedicated research team
