About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as Cisco’s domain authority in memory technologies
  • Advise internal and external technical partners on selection, validation, and qualification of memory components for Cisco products
  • Analyze and influence vendor roadmaps
  • Participate in technical reviews and memory-component selection for next-generation products
  • Influence Cisco design and engineering teams to recommend and integrate next-generation memory into solutions
  • Collaborate with Cisco design teams to enhance memory quality and reliability across Cisco platforms
  • Provide technical expertise in investigating next-generation memory solutions
  • Assess emerging technologies, architectures, industry roadmaps, and supplier capabilities for technical feasibility, performance, reliability, quality, and readiness
  • Lead investigations and end-to-end failure analysis for component and system issues
  • Work with vendors to define, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions, including 8D and RCA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • 8+ years’ experience in memory design/application or Field Application Engineering
  • Experience assessing emerging memory technologies, architectures, and industry roadmaps, including DDR6 and evolving JEDEC memory standards
  • Strong knowledge of DRAM ECC methodologies, including Partial Chipkill (PCLS) and Single Device Data Correction (SDDC) techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DRAM technologies, including DDRx, LPDDRx, HBM, and other emerging memory solutions
  • Strong understanding of memory applications in server and networking platforms
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective conflict resolution abilities
  • Experience with semiconductor device reliability testing and characterization methods, such as HTOL, ELFR, LU, and ESD
  • Experience in memory semiconductor fabrication, including wafer-level and packaging
  • Experience investigating component failures across NPI, mass production, and field returns, with knowledge of failure-analysis techniques
  • Flash knowledge and experience is a plus
