About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Translate complex validation outcomes and testbed findings into business risk mitigation strategies for senior leadership
- Lead end-to-end testing of Service Provider routing architectures, Cisco IOS-XR 64-bit releases, SRv6, BGP EVPN, and Routed Optical Networking solutions
- Build high-fidelity customer simulations in SVS test laboratories
- Architect and implement continuous test automation frameworks using Cisco pyATS/Genie, CXTM, and CI/CD pipelines
- Serve as technical escalation authority, partnering with Cisco Product Engineering to triage defects and validate patches
- Support pre-sales scoping, Statements of Work, Level of Effort models, and Joint Test Plans on Record
- Mentor consulting engineers across the global SVS organization
- Collaborate with customer Principal Architects, Cisco Account Teams, and CX Technical Leaders on validation scopes and migration strategies
- Author, review, and approve Detailed Test Plans, Joint Test Plans on Record, Method of Procedures, and End of Test Reports
- Validate throughput, QoS, failover convergence, and performance using Spirent TestCenter, Keysight/Ixia IxNetwork, and WAN impairment tools
- Drive Infrastructure as Code and Test Automation as Code adoption through reusable pyATS scripts and CI/CD pipelines
- Lead root cause analysis using packet captures, router debug logs, and telemetry streams
- Author whitepapers, test methodology playbooks, and reusable test suites
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent
- 10–15+ years of relevant experience in Service Provider network design, testing, validation, or advanced technical delivery
- Deep hands-on architectural and validation expertise in Cisco Service Provider routing platforms and network operating systems
- Proven customer-facing consulting, technical leadership, or solution architecture experience with senior-level decision makers
- Expert-level Cisco certification (CCIE Service Provider or CCIE Enterprise/Routing & Switching) or equivalent proven industry standing strongly desired
- Foundation in software programmability and automation scripting, including Python, REST APIs, and JSON/YAML
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, executive presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong architectural understanding and hands-on validation expertise across at least two Service Provider domain areas
- Experience with Cisco SP platforms, operating systems, core routing protocols, segment routing, traffic engineering, multi-service VPNs, EVPN, SP network timing, 5G synchronization, RON, resiliency, and security
- Experience with Cisco pyATS/Genie, SP SDN orchestration, data modeling, streaming telemetry, scripting, CI/CD pipelines, hardware traffic generation, virtualization, digital twin platforms, and telco cloud infrastructure
