About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deploy, operate, and maintain resilient AWS and Kubernetes-based infrastructure and microservices supporting the Webex for Government environment
  • Monitor service health and troubleshoot complex incidents in a 24x7 production environment
  • Restore service quickly during production incidents
  • Automate repeatable operational work and infrastructure provisioning
  • Improve safety, efficiency, and consistency across deployments
  • Support identity and access management, logging, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and FedRAMP continuous monitoring
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance teams to identify operational risks and improve reliability
  • Build documentation, runbooks, and incident reports
  • Participate in on-call coverage and handoff calls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus 7+ years of related experience, or equivalent practical experience, or Master’s degree plus 4 years in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of writing high-quality code in Python, Bash, Go, or equivalent languages
  • Experience with Unix/Linux systems, the kernel, system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols
  • Experience working with cloud providers, ideally AWS, and Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
  • Experience building and maintaining containerized applications using Docker
  • Experience writing multi-stage Dockerfiles
  • Understanding of horizontally scalable microservice architecture
  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) for running containerized workloads in production
  • Experience operating services in a FedRAMP, government cloud, or other regulated environment
  • Experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated production deployments using GitLab, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Experience with highly available, multi-region distributed systems, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, including creating runbooks, operational procedures, and audit-ready evidence
  • Familiarity with security standard processes, vulnerability management, and incident response processes
  • Experience participating in an on-call roster covering 24 on-call shifts and handoff calls
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and perform the work on U.S. soil
