About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain services in a FedRAMP-compliant environment
  • Contribute to a large-scale codebase deploying daily across AWS, GCP, Azure, and GovCloud
  • Architect self-service developer tools and abstractions for internal engineering teams
  • Deploy and monitor production systems across multi-cloud environments
  • Tune telemetry, metrics, and alerting to improve operational excellence
  • Participate in supported on-call rotations
  • Diagnose system anomalies and resolve production incidents
  • Identify root causes of incidents
  • Build and integrate AI-powered tools into engineering workflows
  • Automate configuration changes and optimize continuous delivery pipelines
  • Collaborate within Splunk’s Control Plane organization, which builds self-service automated platforms for internal engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to perform work on U.S. soil where specified by the U.S. government
  • One qualifying education/experience pathway: Master’s degree with 0 years of work experience; Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of work experience; an educational or workforce development program such as Associate’s, Apprenticeship, Boot camp, or Certification with 3 years of work experience; or high school diploma/equivalent with 4 years of work experience
  • Qualifying education and work experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Education completed within the past 3 years or expected within the next 12 months
  • Proficiency writing software and working with data structures and algorithms in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Python, or Ruby
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, or managing cloud infrastructure across AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, or automation tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or CloudFormation
  • Preferred: experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including kubectl
  • Preferred: knowledge of distributed systems concepts, including concurrency control, consistency models, CAP theorem, or distributed databases/file systems
  • Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, system observability/telemetry, and Unix/Linux terminals
  • Preferred: experience using generative AI tools or machine learning models for developer tooling, infrastructure workflows, or script execution
  • Ability to take ownership of engineering deliverables, communicate technical concepts effectively, and work in an agile team environment
