About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in secure design, development, and systematic testing of software products
- Design and deploy solutions testing reliability, availability, latency, and performance
- Design and build test frameworks, utilities, automation, scripts, and programs
- Contribute to CI/CD, define quality gates, and ensure end-to-end quality
- Lead corrective actions and root-cause analysis for escaped defects and software bugs
- Write clean code and unit tests with minimal guidance
- Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout development
- Conduct code reviews and implement code enabling scale, reliability, and release velocity
- Apply secure coding principles and understand feature threat models
- Collaborate on monitoring and alerting in test and production environments
- Use risk-based analysis to focus testing based on product and business requirements
- Execute test cases and plans across projects with multiple features
- Report findings to developers, product managers, and other teams with root-cause analysis and potential solutions
- Collaborate with engineering groups to document test cases and maintain test documentation
- Translate dashboard metrics into release notes, bug reports, test documents, and test results
- Provide usability and serviceability feedback
- Mentor peers and engineering interns
- Build relationships with stakeholders and act as a resource for less experienced colleagues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelors + 5 years of related experience, or Masters + 3 years of related experience, or PhD + 0 years of related experience
- Working knowledge and expanded conceptual knowledge in the primary technical job family
- Broadens capabilities within the technical job family
- Proficiency with current technologies
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and feature threat modeling
- Experience with software testing, automation frameworks, and test plans
- Experience with CI/CD practices and quality gates
- Knowledge of reliability, availability, latency, and performance testing
- Experience with coding, debugging, unit testing, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of integration points with software components, Cisco products, or customer environments
