About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Set the long-term technical direction for ACM’s configuration platform
  • Define architecture, technology investments, and build-versus-buy tradeoffs
  • Lead complex projects spanning configuration delivery, disaster recovery, fleet management, and platform reliability
  • Establish standards for code quality, system design, observability, and operational excellence
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, pairing, and coaching
  • Own production reliability and provide technical judgment during major incidents
  • Design systems that reduce operational burden
  • Develop and maintain a configuration platform enabling customers to manage Splunk Enterprise Cloud environments at scale
  • Support production customers across AWS, GCP, Azure, and GovCloud environments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of related experience, or Master’s degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 3 years
  • Experience building and operating large-scale production systems
  • Fluency in Go and/or Python
  • Experience designing resilient, scalable distributed systems in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or GovCloud
  • Experience with configuration and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Puppet, Terraform, or Ansible at scale
  • Experience leading major technical initiatives and influencing engineering direction beyond immediate teams
  • Preferred: production observability, incident management, capacity planning, and continuous delivery experience
  • Preferred: Kubernetes and container orchestration experience at production scale
  • Preferred: experience building platforms used by other engineering teams
  • Preferred: security, compliance, or regulated cloud environment background such as GovCloud or FedRAMP
  • Preferred: open-source contributions in configuration management or cloud infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills
