About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, mentor, and manage multiple cross-functional Scrum teams across globally distributed locations
Drive end-to-end delivery accountability across concurrent Books of Work, including milestones, dependency management, and business outcomes
Champion engineering excellence, Agile maturity, and CI/CD best practices
Conduct technical coaching, talent acquisition, career development, performance evaluations, and capacity planning
Serve as senior technical authority for enterprise-scale distributed systems
Validate and steer high-level solution designs and low-level architectural patterns
Establish coding standards, design patterns, automated test coverage gates, and continuous code quality reviews
Lead modernization of legacy frameworks into modular, scalable, event-driven, and containerized services
Drive adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and intelligent autonomous workflows across development and operations
Identify and architect automation for repetitive engineering and operational tasks
Foster AI-assisted engineering experimentation while adhering to AI guardrails, security standards, and governance policies
Oversee architecture and optimization of high-throughput data and reporting pipelines
Design and govern high-volume event streaming and messaging fabrics
Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, active-active failover, disaster recovery, and low-latency response requirements
Influence senior stakeholders and define product roadmaps and strategic technical priorities
Assess business and architectural risk while safeguarding Citi, its clients, and assets
Ensure adherence to secure SDLC policies, regulatory standards, information security controls, remediation timelines, and audit readiness

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis, including Java/Spring Boot, NoSQL Database, and Distributed Messaging
8+ years of experience in Software Architecture, System Analysis, and programming software applications
8+ years of experience managing and implementing successful projects
Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, and Selenium
Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration with backend services
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
Experience managing global technology teams
Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
Clear and concise written and verbal communication
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Hands-on proficiency in Java 21, Spring Boot 4.x, cloud-native microservices, distributed persistence/messaging architectures, Docker, OpenShift/Kubernetes, SonarQube, Snyk, Oracle 19c/OraaS, MongoDB 7.x/8.x/MaaS, Apache Kafka, and IBM MQ
Knowledge or experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent autonomous workflows, and prompt-engineered or multi-agent solutions
Knowledge of Agile Scrum, CI/CD, secure SDLC, regulatory standards, information security controls, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness
