About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage end-to-end credit underwriting for new and existing commercial relationships
  • Conduct pre-screening, credit appetite assessment, approval, documentation, and ongoing portfolio oversight
  • Assess commercial borrower creditworthiness through financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, trend analysis, and ratio analysis
  • Evaluate complex business structures, including international subsidiaries
  • Prepare written credit analyses covering financing needs, risks, structural considerations, and credit recommendations
  • Monitor borrowers through monthly and quarterly financial reviews
  • Track covenant compliance and identify and escalate early warning indicators
  • Oversee loan documentation for new transactions and amendments
  • Coordinate with internal partners and external legal counsel
  • Maintain regulatory compliance, accurate risk ratings, appropriate classification, and adherence to credit policies and regulatory frameworks
  • Mentor and develop junior credit professionals
  • Contribute to training initiatives and wider commercial banking credit skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of credit underwriting and portfolio management experience within a commercial or corporate banking environment
  • Background operating within regulatory and compliance policy frameworks
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial statements, cash flow positions, and industry-specific performance metrics
  • Ability to evaluate sophisticated or multi-entity business structures, including international subsidiaries
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and their practical application in credit underwriting
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy
  • Ability to present credit views and engage with relationship managers, risk teams, senior stakeholders, and external counterparties
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex credit issues
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word, including financial modelling, enterprise valuation, data presentation, and analytical tools
  • Familiarity with commercial lending products including working capital facilities, term loans, acquisition finance, trade finance, and derivatives
  • Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in finance, business, or a related discipline (beneficial)
