About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop new and revised applications for the Rates Technology team
Perform in-depth application systems analysis and programming
Collaborate with technology and business teams globally to deliver robust and efficient software solutions
Partner with Rates trading desks to understand requirements and workflow challenges
Translate business needs into intuitive, efficient, user-centric server-side solutions
Design scalable server architecture, write high-quality code, and conduct comprehensive testing
Improve the software development lifecycle, development methodologies, code quality standards, and best practices
Deliver large-scale, complex technology projects from conception through deployment
Provide third-line production support and handle escalated issues requiring deep technical analysis
Review proposed technical solutions for robustness, scalability, and architectural alignment
Develop knowledge of business integration to ensure technology solutions enhance strategic processes
Identify innovation opportunities, research emerging trends, and adapt new technologies
Follow development and operational procedures
Assess and manage risk, protect Citi, clients, and assets, and comply with applicable laws and company policies
Escalate, manage, and transparently report control issues

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 4+ years of in-depth professional development experience, with a dominant focus on building sophisticated enterprise applications
Extensive, hands-on experience in Java, SpringBoot, Quarkus and reactive programming paradigms
Proven experience developing high-throughput, low-latency systems, including building microservices
Extensive practical experience with Kafka, Solace, and MongoDB
Demonstrable experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and tools, such as Tekton
Experience with container orchestration platforms like OpenShift and Kubernetes
Prior experience working in a fast-paced, desk-facing role within a financial services environment
Exposure to software quality techniques such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and application performance profiling
Strong mathematical aptitude and ambition to learn the complex mathematics associated with financial derivatives
Excellent analytical and methodical problem-solving approach
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail, strong self-motivation, and willingness to learn and adapt
Prior knowledge of the Rates Derivatives business is preferred
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
