About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage, develop, and optimize very large SQL Server databases for high performance and reliability
  • Lead SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and advanced indexing strategies
  • Collaborate with the DBA team on best practices and operational excellence for VLDB environments
  • Oversee data loading and ETL development using Microsoft BI tools
  • Mentor ETL developers in best practices
  • Drive data architecture and modeling decisions for data warehouses
  • Conduct SQL and stored procedure code reviews
  • Maintain and enhance database entitlement and permission models
  • Implement database encryption methods such as Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
  • Use AI tools for SQL code refactoring and performance optimization
  • Advise and coach mid-level developers and analysts, including work allocation
  • Assess business risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and escalate or manage control issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis with extensive SQL Server expertise
  • Proven and extensive experience developing, maintaining, and optimizing very large databases (VLDBs) in SQL Server version 2019 and above
  • Expert SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance enhancements
  • Advanced data modeling, data architecture, and data warehouse concepts and design
  • Extensive data loading and ETL development experience using Microsoft BI tools, including SSIS and SSAS
  • Experience architecting, designing, and implementing scalable ETL pipelines for large data volumes
  • Strong SQL code review experience, stored procedure fine-tuning, and DBA best practices
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB
  • Proven database security experience, including entitlement and permission models and Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
  • Ability to leverage AI tools for SQL code refactoring, optimization, and code improvement
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Python/Pyspark skills for data processing and analytics are nice to have
  • Master’s degree preferred
