About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an operational lead and subject matter expert for the Legal Support Unit’s Subpoenas Team
  • Act as the main support system for junior and mid-level staff processing subpoenas
  • Manage operational queues and conduct quality assurance through Manager's Control Assessment reviews
  • Handle high-level escalations
  • Serve as a bridge between subpoena-processing staff, the Subpoenas Team manager, internal escalation points, in-house counsel, outside counsel, and external requesting parties
  • Execute, review, process, and track legal documentation
  • Complete varied, potentially complex work requests from multiple sources under tight deadlines
  • Prepare reports and conduct administrative legal work; may contribute to billing processing
  • Maintain detailed records and create, prepare, and process legal documentation under direction of in-house counsel
  • Work closely with the team manager and Legal peers
  • Assess risk, drive compliance, apply sound ethical judgment, and escalate, manage, and report control issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4–6 years of experience in legal operations, subpoena processing, or legal service of process within a financial institution or law firm
  • At least 1–2 years in a senior, lead, or supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of legal services processes and legal documentation requirements
  • Strong understanding of the MCA framework or equivalent risk/control self-assessment methodologies
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel for queue tracking and reporting
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building capabilities
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with attorneys, external parties, and internal stakeholders
  • Uncompromising attention to detail and commitment to data privacy and security
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Paralegal Certificate or Legal Operations certification is highly preferred
