About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership for the design, enhancement, and sustained operation of the control environment supporting Core Operations
  • Set the overarching direction for the Manager's Control Assessment (MCA) program, internal/external audits, and issue management
  • Drive a culture of proactive risk management and foster relationships with executive management, second-line-of-defense partners, and internal audit
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing global team of risk and control professionals
  • Provide leadership and direction through Senior Managers overseeing multiple teams
  • Make high-level decisions guided by functional and operational strategies to strengthen the control environment
  • Lead end-to-end execution of the global Manager Control Assessment framework
  • Direct identification, documentation, and continuous validation of manual and automated controls
  • Approve global monitoring and testing methodologies
  • Provide strategic governance and executive oversight for the Issue Management lifecycle
  • Direct complex root-cause analyses and track systemic remediation plans
  • Enforce escalation frameworks for critical risks
  • Serve as primary senior control point of contact for Core Operations
  • Lead engagement for internal and external audits and regulatory exams
  • Provide executive guidance on audit and regulatory response initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior business heads, product managers, and Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit partners
  • Resolve complex cross-functional issues and foster strong ethics and proactive risk management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry
  • 8+ years of managerial experience preferred
  • Expert ability to identify, measure, and manage key risks and design strategic, product-agnostic controls
  • Proven experience managing global teams with broad accountability in a complex environment
  • Ability to lead through major organizational change
  • Expertise in breaking down complex regulatory and operational matters into core issues and root causes
  • Strategic thought leadership in driving the efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment and accurate reporting to executive stakeholders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial services business structures, product lines, and associated risk profiles
  • Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver compelling presentations and influence executive-level audiences
  • Bachelor's/University degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
