About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and develop multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals
  • Conduct personnel duties including performance evaluations, hiring, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure teams adhere to best practices and processes
  • Develop the team's vision, roles, responsibilities, and structure
  • Prepare and present regular team/project reviews to senior management and business leaders
  • Drive system architecture design and development
  • Work with end-users and enhance deliverable quality
  • Ensure adherence to Citi policies, procedures, desktop procedures, and supporting documentation requirements
  • Monitor and manage approaches, results, budgeting, planning, policy formation, and future strategy
  • Manage change controls, documentation, approvals, and implementation of regulatory reporting requirements
  • Research and resolve issues, provide recommendations, and escalate to senior management
  • Manage disaster recovery plans, oversee testing, and provide permit-to-operate for new applications
  • Lead local staff forums and present global, regional, and location news and updates
  • Define and implement department best practices and processes
  • Assess and manage risk, drive compliance, maintain transparency, supervise activities, and create accountability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and technology leadership
  • 8-10+ years of direct managerial and people leadership experience
  • Proven track record managing and developing high-performing engineering teams
  • Hands-on engineering management experience and ability to manage complex business products while maintaining technical involvement
  • Extensive experience with financial products and payment systems
  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry and competitors' products and services
  • Expertise in code review and technical quality assurance
  • Expertise in Java and modern Java frameworks
  • Expertise in microservices architecture design and implementation
  • Expertise in distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including Kafka
  • Expertise in cloud-native application development
  • Expertise in API design and integration patterns
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with modern technology stacks and evaluating and adopting emerging technologies
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern development practices
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
