About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize database solutions across Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other relational database platforms
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, packages, and schemas
  • Create and optimize complex SQL queries for application, reporting, and analytical requirements
  • Design, develop, support, and troubleshoot ETL/ELT processes
  • Schedule, monitor, and support batch processing and data integration jobs using AutoSys or similar tools
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Unix/Linux shell scripting, PowerShell, Python, or equivalent languages
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and capacity planning
  • Support database deployments and maintain development, testing, and production environments
  • Implement database security standards, access controls, encryption, and auditing requirements
  • Collaborate with application development teams on scalable data models and database architectures
  • Support system upgrades, database migrations, and cloud modernization initiatives
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks
  • Participate in on-call support and production release activities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with application development, with a strong focus on database development
  • Strong experience with SQL development across Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), Oracle (PL/SQL), MySQL, etc.
  • Strong database design, normalization, and data modeling expertise
  • Hands-on experience with ETL development and support
  • Experience scheduling and managing batch jobs using AutoSys or similar enterprise schedulers
  • Strong Unix/Linux administration and shell scripting experience
  • Experience with Unix, Python, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting languages
  • Expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, or Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and large-scale data processing
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong production support and incident management experience
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and establish database development best practices
