About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Implement Prime Brokerage solutions across FX and Equities using modern cloud-native technologies and CI/CD workflows
Focus on consolidation, automation and scalability
Drive system architecture design and development
Work with system end-users and enhance deliverable quality
Ensure adherence to Citi policies and procedures
Maintain current, comprehensive desktop procedures and supporting documentation for filings
Collaborate with FX Technology teams to implement business-benefiting solutions
Collaborate with FX Prime Brokerage trading, Quants and Product stakeholders to understand Payments needs
Translate stakeholder needs into impactful data-driven solutions and deliver them with Technology
Design, develop and test new application features
Continually improve the software development lifecycle and product quality
Provide third-line production support; dedicated 24-hour teams handle first- and second-line support
Mentor junior team members
Define and implement departmental best practices and processes
Ensure transparency and consistency across teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree or above (or equivalent education) in a STEM discipline
Proven experience in software engineering and development
Strong understanding of computer systems and how they operate
Hands-on experience in Java and Spring
Understanding of ultra-low-latency development practices
Proven understanding of FX highly preferred
Well versed with AI coding tools like Devin, Claude Code and Codex, with production-grade application delivery experience
Proven track record of building new systems, replacing legacy systems and renovating existing systems
Strong skill set in SQL/databases
Strong understanding of messaging technologies such as Kafka, Solace and MQ
Experience writing production-scale applications using caching technologies
Software, hardware and network systems knowledge required to define solutions and troubleshoot issues
Exceptional communication skills and confidence communicating at all levels
Hands-on engineering ability, with confidence deep-diving into products and codebases and providing detailed, constructive analysis and feedback
Awareness of industry trends and ability to leverage new technologies as appropriate
Understanding of OpenShift and Kubernetes is beneficial/nice to have
KDB knowledge is beneficial/nice to have
