About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and mentor multiple teams of software engineers and analysts
  • Set technical direction, conduct performance reviews, and build engineering capability across the group
  • Design and deliver high-performance, large-scale Java applications across the Funds Accounting domain
  • Personally develop key software components and model best practices in Agentic AI design and implementation
  • Define and enforce application architecture standards aligned with Citi's architectural guidelines
  • Host structured design and code review sessions to raise engineering standards and embed AI-assisted development practices
  • Analyse complex business and system processes to architect and deliver solutions to high-priority engineering challenges
  • Translate end-user requirements into robust system specifications
  • Lead adoption of emerging technologies, especially Agentic AI and Machine Learning frameworks
  • Collaborate with global engineers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and support staff
  • Plan, integrate, and ship software solutions across large budgets and cross-functional programmes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10 or more years of progressive software development experience
  • Deep hands-on expertise in enterprise-level Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud
  • Strong command of Spring Core, Spring Integration, Spring Batch, Spring JDBC, and Hibernate
  • Experience designing and implementing data architecture solutions spanning Oracle, MongoDB, Hadoop, data warehousing, Apache Spark, and Kafka
  • Experience building and deploying microservices architectures, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems at enterprise scale
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud-native services and serverless architectures
  • Experience with Oracle Coherence or Redis
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, SonarQube, Git, and BitBucket
  • Experience leading technical teams in an Agile software development environment
  • Ownership of architecture design, code quality, and delivery outcomes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with Agentic AI frameworks and Machine Learning model integration within production engineering environments is beneficial
  • Familiarity with GitHub Copilot or Devin AI is beneficial
  • Experience in financial services technology, particularly funds administration or fund accounting, is beneficial
  • Exposure to secure coding toolkits and security-first development practices is beneficial
