About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Facilitate the end-to-end lending process within the US Commercial Bank for assigned relationships and portfolio
  • Analyze and support credit views based on portfolio and industry knowledge, balancing risk and business objectives
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory classification, minimize net credit losses, and escalate emerging concerns
  • Make credit decisions using approval authority in tandem with Independent Risk
  • Manage underwriting workflow for new and existing credit relationships, including pre-screening, amendments, extensions, annual reviews, and related diligence
  • Prepare monthly and/or quarterly financial memo reviews to monitor borrower covenant compliance and address concerns
  • Direct and supervise loan documentation for new transactions and amendments, coordinating with internal partners and outside legal counsel
  • Conduct periodic client calls with portfolio clients and selected new-to-bank opportunities
  • Develop knowledge of credit products and services offered to Commercial Bank clients
  • Mentor and develop junior staff
  • Recommend process improvements for efficiency and controls
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to advance transactions in accordance with controls
  • Provide sector and sub-segment insights, contribute to industry-specific risk and portfolio content, and lead credit-specific risk assessments
  • Advise or lead strategic US or Global CLM initiatives and deliver credit skills training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced senior credit underwriting executive with deep and relevant CLM industry expertise, particularly in commercial and cross-border lending
  • 10+ years of experience in credit underwriting, portfolio and/or risk management with a large multinational financial services organization
  • Knowledge of intermediate accounting theory and its practical application in credit underwriting
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and listening communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to complete multiple priorities in a timely manner
  • Strong credit sense and ability to articulate a view across a range of credit products
  • Experience in early problem recognition and resolution
  • Learning agility and ability to apply learning to new situations
  • Ability to make timely, transparent credit decisions and defend credit views
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced degrees and other certifications considered but not required
