About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee, manage, and direct operational activities, maintenance work, contracted projects, installations, and general care of City cultural and related facilities
- Manage facilities maintenance and related staff, delegate assignments, and improve operational processes
- Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate policies and procedures
- Establish short-, mid-, and long-term goals, objectives, schedules, priorities, and standards
- Direct evaluation activities and participate in hiring and personnel activities
- Monitor payroll and timecard-related issues
- Inspect and evaluate completed work for quality and safety standards
- Coordinate improvement and maintenance projects and manage facilities staff, contractors, and related personnel
- Analyze production goals, increase productivity, and oversee department budgets
- Oversee special projects and facility planning, development, and operations
- Manage equipment, inventory, fixed assets, and supplies
- Ensure daily facility inspections and safe operating practices
- Monitor historical sites and track completed work
- Provide customer service and address facility, maintenance, and repair requests
- Represent the program area at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, seminars, boards, panels, and committees
- Testify at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings as appropriate
- Perform other trades work as needed or assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or an Architectural field, or an approved equivalency
- Four (4) years of experience in building/facility operations, building trades, or building maintenance with responsibility for contract and budget administration and procuring building equipment/materials
- Two (2) years of management/supervisory responsibilities
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules and precautions required of the assigned specialization
- Thorough knowledge of construction trades and all facets of facility maintenance
- Knowledge of human relations and supervision necessary to function as a first or second level supervisor
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Ability to read complex schematic diagrams and blueprints
- Ability to develop and implement budgets for facilities and associated maintenance work
- Ability to understand technical terminology of the assigned specialization
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain record keeping or work log systems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
