About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist recreation program staff in developing, planning, and implementing recreational, cultural, and educational programs
- Support programs and services offered by City recreation facilities
- Coordinate logistics and participate in youth services, senior assistance, recreation programs, special events, and other services
- Assist with programs, educational opportunities, sports teams, and classes for adults, teens, children, and the general community
- Lead recreational activities, demonstrate sports procedures and techniques, and instruct participants in game rules
- Assist with after-school programs, including cleaning, maintenance, and program logistics
- Compile and maintain attendance, ID card, revenue, participant, accident, and materials records
- Provide information and customer service to participants and the public
- Process registrations and documents, distribute schedules, answer phones, and sell and issue trash bags and participant ID cards
- Transport youth to field trips and special events
- Enforce rules, regulations, procedures, and safety precautions
- Conduct outreach and marketing, distribute program materials, attend community events, and generate calendars, lesson plans, and marketing materials
- Perform other assigned tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- First Aid/CPR required within 6 months of employment
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Knowledge of recreation facilities and general programming
- Ability to work with children, youth, and adults
- Knowledge of sports and general rules
- Knowledge of first aid principles and practices
- Ability to develop activities and work with a multi-cultural community
- Ability to enforce recreation, program, and sporting regulations
- Establishing and maintaining effective relationships
- Knowledge of strong customer service principles and practices
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing
- Summer Seasonal Recreation Center Assistants: HSD/GED and driver's license are not required
- Out of School Recreation Center Assistants: driver's license is not required
