About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with winter operations and snow removal
- Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance
- Perform tree trimming
- Respond to highway emergencies
- Safely move, drag, lift, load and unload equipment, materials, supplies and hazardous materials or objects from roadways within weight restrictions
- Spread and tamp surfacing materials
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- For Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior: Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days of employment
- Preferred: valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
- Preferred: experience in the operation of heavy equipment
- Ability to safely move, drag, lift 35 pounds frequently, up to 60 pounds occasionally without assistance, and 90 or more pounds infrequently with assistance
- Ability to climb, bend or stoop
- Ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes and around high-speed traffic
- Ability to be reached outside scheduled work hours for highway emergencies within a specified time frame
