About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research spatial and non-spatial datasets to grow the utility data footprint
  • Digitize non-spatial datasets to increase the accuracy of site data
  • Utilize GIS products and spatial databases daily, including ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, SQL, and internal applications
  • Interpret maps and drawings for key internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Utility Research Coordinators and Digitization Project Managers
  • Process data using ETL workflows/scripts
  • Perform QA/QC of converted GIS data
  • Build and maintain verified utility data and centralized site datasets for engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS adjacent field (GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ESRI or QGIS)
  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats (Geodatabase, Shapefile, GeoJSON, KML, CSV, REST Service, etc.)
  • Basic SQL skills
  • Experience with project management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, ability to operate independently working remotely
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Must be willing to work from the Kansas City, MO office 2 days per week if hired
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America
