About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain Clara's QA platform systems, including Playwright-based frameworks, services, APIs, CI integrations, and internal tools
  • Design and implement shared frameworks and libraries for web and API automation
  • Build backend APIs and fullstack components to store test cases, record run results, expose reports, and integrate with Linear webhooks, Slack notifications, and GitHub Actions
  • Structure frameworks and contracts so agents and CLIs can generate and execute test specifications reliably
  • Implement and harden CI/CD pipelines for smoke and regression suites
  • Reduce test flakiness and make failures diagnosable
  • Maintain automation as a first-class codebase through reviews, helper tests, versioning, documentation, and refactoring
  • Collaborate with QA engineers on adoption and product engineers on testability, including APIs, data-testid / ARIA, environments, and test data hooks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of software development experience (backend and/or fullstack), with demonstrable automation or developer-tooling delivery
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript for Playwright or equivalent E2E frameworks
  • Willingness to work in Java / Spring Boot where services or integrations require it
  • Experience building and maintaining web and API test automation frameworks
  • Understanding of the test pyramid and when to prefer API versus UI coverage
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, relational databases, authentication basics, and clean service boundaries
  • Fullstack experience with React / Next.js or similar for dashboards and test-management UIs
  • CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions or similar
  • Docker familiarity and Git-based collaboration
  • Ability to debug flaky tests, environment issues, and integration failures systematically
  • Good English, written and verbal
  • Spanish is a plus
  • Prior SDET / SET / Test Infrastructure Engineer experience is a nice-to-have
  • Mobile automation with Appium or BrowserStack is a nice-to-have
  • Workflow orchestration, Linear/GitHub API integrations, or AI/agent tooling for test generation is a nice-to-have
  • AWS and observability basics is a nice-to-have
  • Fintech / payments domain exposure is a nice-to-have
  • Experience replacing external test-management tools with internal systems is a nice-to-have
