About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide inpatient care at Medina Hospital and Lodi Community Hospital
  • Work to the top of license caring for hospitalized patients
  • Conduct medical histories and complete physical examinations
  • Order and interpret laboratory, radiology, cardiographic, and other diagnostic tests
  • Establish patients' current health status, working diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Perform routine procedures including injections, immunotherapy, suturing, and wound care
  • Assist with management of complex illness and injury, including surgical operations and life-threatening situations
  • Prescribe and monitor medications within applicable prescriptive authority and Cleveland Clinic policy
  • Perform specialized procedures including bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, blood draws, IV starts, spinal taps, thoracentesis, and paracentesis as privileged
  • Educate patients about diseases, treatments, medications, side effects, hazards, and preventive health maintenance
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Refer patients to specialists when appropriate
  • Coordinate continuity of care between patients and multidisciplinary or specialty teams
  • Perform research follow-up studies and assist with data analysis
  • Participate in quality monitoring through record and treatment-plan reviews
  • Facilitate length of stay, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance for inpatient management
  • Precept PA/APRN students and other health professionals
  • Support onboarding as faculty for new employees
  • Routinely take call and work weekends, holidays, possibly nights, and other off-shift hours
  • Complete special procedure privileging requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate ethical behavior, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to excellent patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Family, Adult, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or PA program
  • APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for applicable external and internal hires
  • APRN: Graduate of an accredited APRN training program
  • PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program
  • PA: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or applicable state license through the State Medical Board for certificate to practice
  • APRN: Current Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure in the applicable state
  • APRN: National APRN certification from a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing
  • APRN: Current state Board of Nursing licensure, including certificate to prescribe if applicable
  • PA: Current NCCPA certification or successor certification
  • PA: Licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio
  • PA: Physician Supervision Agreement and/or signed addendum required
  • PA: Privileged by CCF's Credentialing Board
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on work setting
  • At least one year of advanced practice experience preferred; new graduates with a Hospital Medicine rotation encouraged to apply
  • Two years of clinical advanced practice nursing experience preferred for APRNs
  • Two years of relative clinical experience preferred for PAs
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated competency in advanced assessment and diagnosis
  • Ability to use an electronic medical record
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Surgical experience may be required depending on practice
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination for physical examinations
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work around communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Must use personal protective equipment as required
