About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide outpatient regional OB/GYN advanced practice care at Mercy Hospital Medical Office Building and North Canton Medical Outpatient Center
  • Conduct annual exams
  • Perform gynecological problem visits and procedures
  • Provide care for low-risk obstetrical patients in collaboration with the primary physician
  • Interpret and manage laboratory, imaging, testing, radiologic, cardiographic, and other diagnostic procedures
  • Conduct medical histories and physical examinations
  • Establish working diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures within credentialed and privileged scope
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by license, state board, and Cleveland Clinic policies
  • Educate patients about diseases, treatments, medications, side effects, and hazards
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Refer patients to specialists and specialized health resources when appropriate
  • Ensure continuity of care and coordinate with multidisciplinary and specialty teams
  • Participate in quality monitoring through record and treatment-plan review
  • Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance for inpatient management
  • Support professional development of the healthcare team
  • Promote evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research
  • Conduct research studies and assist with data collection and analysis as needed
  • Serve as clinical preceptor for students and onboard new caregivers as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)
  • APRN: Graduate of an accredited APRN program
  • APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for applicable external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role
  • PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program
  • PA: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree from a program recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • NP: Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s)
  • NP: Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s)
  • NP: National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the State Board of Nursing
  • PA: Certification through the NCCPA or successor organization recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • PA: License to practice and prescribe issued by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • PA: Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS may be required based on work setting
  • NP: Physician arrangements in accordance with applicable State Board of Nursing requirements
  • PA: Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum
  • Credentialing and privileges through the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated competency in advanced assessment and diagnosis
  • Demonstrated ability to use the electronic medical record
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Oral and written communication in English
  • Related clinical experience preferred
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods; perform physical examinations; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and work with potential exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Compliance with required personal protective equipment and standard precautions
