About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide outpatient primary and specialty care for patients with spinal conditions
- Independently manage and treat patients with spinal disorders while collaborating with APPs, physicians, and the healthcare team
- Assess acute and chronic spine concerns and post-spinal interventional procedure patients
- Diagnose spinal pathology and initiate and execute treatment plans
- Exercise autonomy in medical decision-making
- Counsel and educate medical and surgical spine patients about diseases, treatments, medications, side effects, and hazards
- Conduct medical histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other diagnostic procedures
- Perform routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged
- Prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by licensure and policy
- Participate in medical team rounds and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Refer patients to specialists and specialized resources when appropriate
- Ensure continuity of care between patients and multidisciplinary or specialty teams
- Review records and treatment plans to monitor quality and patient outcomes
- Facilitate discharge planning, length of stay, and regulatory compliance
- Support professional development of the healthcare team
- Promote evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research
- Conduct research studies and assist with data collection and analysis when applicable
- Serve as a clinical preceptor and onboard new caregivers when applicable
- Work primarily Monday through Friday on 8-hour day shifts at Main Campus and Columbia Road
Requirements
What you’ll need- Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)
- APRN candidates: Family or Adult certification; graduate of an accredited APRN program
- APRN candidates: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for applicable external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role
- PA candidates: graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program
- PA candidates: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree from a program recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
- NP candidates: currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s) and as an RN in applicable state(s)
- NP candidates: national Nurse Practitioner certification recognized by the state Board of Nursing
- PA candidates: NCCPA certification and license to practice and prescribe issued by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
- Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA for PA candidates
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS may be required based upon work setting
- Required physician arrangements or Physician Supervision Agreement, as applicable
- Credentialing and privileges through the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals
- Oral and written communication in English
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated competency in advanced assessment and diagnosis
- Ability to utilize the electronic medical record
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Related clinical experience preferred
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods; perform physical examinations; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment
