About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support GYN operating room procedures
  • Conduct rounds on postoperative OB and GYN patients
  • Assist with cesarean deliveries
  • Perform clinic responsibilities
  • Provide primary and/or specialty care in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Conduct medical histories and physical examinations
  • Initiate and interpret laboratory, radiology, cardiographic, and other diagnostic tests as credentialed and privileged
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged
  • Prescribe and monitor medications as permitted by license and policy
  • Educate patients about diseases, treatments, medications, side effects, and hazards
  • Participate in medical team rounds and collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members
  • Refer patients to specialists and specialized resources when appropriate
  • Coordinate continuity of care across multidisciplinary and specialty teams
  • Review records and treatment plans for quality monitoring and patient outcomes
  • Facilitate length of stay, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance for inpatient management
  • Support healthcare-team professional development
  • Promote evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research
  • Conduct research studies and assist with data collection and analysis when applicable
  • Serve as clinical preceptor for students and onboard new caregivers when applicable
  • Work primarily Monday to Friday with occasional call
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; OR training/experience required
  • APRN: MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN licensed role to an APRN licensed role
  • APRN: Graduate of an accredited APRN program
  • PA: Graduate of an A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program
  • PA: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or higher degree from a program recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • Oral and written communication in English
  • NP: Current Nurse Practitioner license in applicable state(s)
  • NP: RN license in applicable state(s)
  • NP: National Nurse Practitioner certification from a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing
  • PA: Physician Assistant certification through NCCPA or successor organization recognized by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • PA: License to practice and prescribe issued by the practicing state’s Licensing Board
  • Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA for PA candidates
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, or ATLS may be required based on work setting
  • NP candidates must have arrangements with at least one physician as required by the applicable State Board of Nursing
  • PA candidates must have a Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum
  • Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals
  • Related clinical experience preferred
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work with possible exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
  • Must follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment
  • Must comply with post-offer controlled-substance testing
  • Must comply with the annual influenza prevention program or obtain an approved exemption
