About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide engineering, operational, automation, governance, and security support for AWS
  • Support, maintain, and optimize AWS infrastructure
  • Develop highly available, reliable, scalable, and secure cloud solutions for hybrid-cloud adoption and platform modernization
  • Collaborate with the Cloud Center of Excellence, Cloud Architects, Cloud Engineers, ITD Architecture team, engineers, architects, division leaders, and external partners
  • Architect, implement, and manage AWS-based infrastructure and cloud solutions
  • Design and manage cloud systems for performance, scalability, security, availability, and reliability
  • Manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, storage, networking, and other infrastructure services
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code, automation scripts, templates, and frameworks
  • Apply Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt, and Terraform
  • Deploy and maintain secure cloud networking, identity management, and access control
  • Support containerized workloads and OpenShift integration
  • Monitor cloud environments, analyze cost and performance metrics, resolve issues, and implement enhancements
  • Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs
  • Support monitoring, logging, backup, disaster recovery, and resiliency solutions
  • Implement cloud vision and strategy and support enterprise architecture
  • Provide subject matter expertise and develop tailored solutions
  • Support transition of products from development through sustainable production deployment
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, tools, and methodologies
  • Perform hands-on implementation, prototyping, and coding
  • Support application modernization initiatives
  • Implement and maintain enterprise security, governance, compliance, and operational controls
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and procedures
  • Contribute to a multi-cloud services catalog
  • Remain current on IT advancements and cloud technologies
  • Work remotely Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with limited travel required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Additional experience or relevant certifications may offset some or all of education requirements
  • Five years of experience working in areas of computer systems and Infrastructure
  • Two years of experience specializing in cloud engineering
  • Demonstrated technical judgment with ability to guide decisions across systems, scale, performance, security, and fault tolerance
  • Experience with and significant knowledge of at least one cloud platform
  • Experience working within small to medium sized cloud engineering teams
  • Ability to work across organizations and multiple stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of IBM Cloud Services
  • Preferred: ITIL Foundations certification for Information Technology Division caregivers
  • Preferred AWS certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Security Specialty, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Preferred experience with IBM Cloud infrastructure, including IBM Cloud Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)
  • Preferred experience with IBM Kubernetes Service (IKS) and Red Hat OpenShift
  • Preferred proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management
  • Preferred strong knowledge of cloud networking and security principles
  • Preferred experience with disaster recovery, high availability, and cloud resiliency planning
  • Preferred IBM certifications: IBM Certified Professional Architect, IBM Cloud Professional Architect, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Red Hat OpenShift Administration
  • Preferred one+ years of IBM Cloud or hybrid cloud experience
  • Must reside in Ohio or Florida
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
  • Must comply with the annual influenza prevention program or obtain an approved exemption
