About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise facilities caregivers and provide leadership, orientation, training, coaching and mentoring across the Florida Market
  • Oversee facilities operations for 80 buildings, including 5 hospitals and 75 ambulatory sites
  • Oversee installation, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting and daily maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, facility equipment and grounds
  • Coordinate facilities work with various departments and contractors
  • Provide trade expertise supporting system-wide initiatives
  • Ensure safe, functional and comfortable environments for patients, families and staff
  • Maintain compliance with statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements
  • Ensure safe and continuous operations aligned with preventive maintenance, state law and applicable codes
  • Develop preventive maintenance for building systems and trade standards/specifications
  • Establish systems to attract, develop, engage and retain caregivers
  • Provide performance feedback through coaching and mentoring
  • Manage staffing and capacity planning for assigned shops/trades
  • Guide caregivers in accomplishing work objectives
  • Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures and performance standards across the market
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of completed work
  • Coordinate work plans and priorities across multiple facilities
  • Monitor departmental, capital and operating/construction budgets
  • Review equipment and materials inventory and initiate purchase requisitions
  • Participate in the Environment of Care Committee
  • Oversee the integrity of fire life safety systems
  • Work Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with availability for nights and weekends as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field, or an additional four years of experience in upper-level Facilities Management may offset the degree requirement
  • Completion of apprenticeship trade/vocational school or knowledge obtained through four years of on-the-job training experience in the appropriate area of responsibility
  • Six years of experience as a fully qualified tradesperson or technician in the respective area of responsibility, such as electrical or plumbing
  • Three years of previous supervisory or managerial experience or formal education in business management
  • CHFM, CHC, CHSP or similar certification required upon hire or within 12 months of employment
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes as applied in health institutions
  • Preferred: PE or RA licensure, or hydronics, plumbing, electrical, HVAC or refrigeration license
  • Preferred: Membership in a professional trade organization
  • Preferred: Experience with MS Office, CMMS and associated tracking programs
  • Preferred: Healthcare and multi-site facilities management experience, ideally within a multi-hospital system
  • Ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching and climbing ladders
  • Dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery
  • Ability to lift and carry machinery/equipment weighing 25 to 100 lbs. and assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 lbs.
  • Color acuity sufficient to distinguish color-coded wiring and piping
  • Must comply with applicable background screening requirements for Florida positions
  • Offers are followed by testing for controlled substances
  • Must comply with the influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or approved exemption
