About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform routine MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages, health backgrounds, and conditions
  • Review patient questionnaires, charts, data, and requisitions to determine MRI contraindications
  • Perform MRI procedures according to protocol and complete daily quality assurance
  • Educate patients about MRI procedures, equipment, and exams
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after examinations
  • Report equipment malfunctions, dysfunctions, and service needs
  • Maintain equipment uptime for patient accessibility
  • Process billing through RIS
  • Instruct and mentor new hires and Radiology students
  • Attend in-service programs and professional affiliation sessions
  • Work day shifts from 7:00am–3:30pm or 8:30am–5:00pm

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by ARMRIT or ARRT as R.T.(R), R.T.(S), or R.T.(T), in good standing; alternatively, R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or CNMT through NMTCB
  • Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) required within one year of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • Must stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily
  • Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Must follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment
  • Must comply with annual influenza vaccination program or obtain an approved exemption
  • One year experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities is preferred
