About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for imaging and treatment
  • Perform nuclear medicine procedures according to manuals and written orders
  • Collaborate with department caregivers and medical staff to improve patient care and workflow
  • Provide support, education, and assistance to patients, customers, and colleagues
  • Operate nuclear medicine and digital imaging equipment safely and effectively
  • Perform quality control on gamma cameras and other equipment
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and report equipment problems
  • Review physician orders, determine required isotopes, and order isotopes from the pharmacy
  • Explain procedures and obtain written consent for invasive procedures
  • Complete site identification before invasive procedures
  • Document pertinent clinical information, medical history, allergies, and other information
  • Consult radiologists or referring physicians regarding contraindications
  • Respond to contrast reactions and medical emergencies according to policy
  • Advise the nurse in charge of unusual patient occurrences
  • Report equipment problems, safety issues, and patient complaints
  • Provide backup assistance to department associates as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Florida License as a General Radiographer (RAD)
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or certified with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting (preferred)
  • Ability to work day/evening/night/weekend shifts
  • Rotating weekend and holiday availability
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments/projects, respond to numerous requests, work collaboratively, ensure operational efficiency, problem solve, make decisions, exercise self-control, and tolerate stress
  • Ability to follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required
